- <p> DIED. JAMES ("Son") THOMAS, 66, blues guitarist and singer;
- of a stroke; in Greenville, Mississippi. Thomas personified
- classic Mississippi Delta blues. A composer and performer of
- odes to hard times, sex and survival, Thomas learned the blues
- by listening to the radio. He was approaching middle age when
- his work finally became known to the world through films produced
- by the Center for Southern Folklore, providing him with a cultish
- international audience of admirers.
